Lead Designer

DESCRIPTION

This was a collaborative project as senior final class at Academy of Art University. 
 

As Lead Designer:

  • I managed a team of 5 designers, tasking out jobs based on each designer's capabilities and skill sets.

  • I worked with the Lead 2D and 3D artists to implement their assets into the game.

  • I scoped the project to fit timeline constraints.

  • I set up the core Quest and Dialogue systems.

  • I wrote dialogue and narrative elements to support immersion.

  • I contributed to lighting/art placement.


 

Overall, I was in charge of bringing the design of the game to a completed demo that got showcased in our own booth at GDC 2023 as well as it being showcased at PAX East 2023.

It won Spring Show 2023 in Best in Show and 1st Place in Game Design.

Unreal Engine 5.1

OVERVIEW

Plague is a 2.5D point-and-click adventure game in the overpopulated Victorian city, Vermillion. As the anthropomorphic Plague Doctor, Doc is taking care of his patients he notices a fungal plague slowly spreading threw out the city. As he begins his search for the cure Doc, pinpoints the outbreak coming from deep within the city's catacombs as it slowly seeps its way deeper into the city streets. 

GAME GOAL

Players explore the town and surrounding areas to cure the plague and see what is causing it. Doc will collect items to fashion cures for different characters, as well as speak with characters and investigate why the plague is spreading. Doc will collect different plants and items from the environment, and then return to his shop to fashion his cures. Players explore the environment and interact with both characters and items.

*Everything was built from scratch in the Unreal Engine 5.1- no plugins, no temp art/placeholders.*
